Major Vihaan Singh Shergill of the Indian Army leads a covert operation against a group of militants who attacked a base in Uri, Kashmir, in 2016 and killed many soldiers.  In September 2016, the Indian Army launched surgical strikes against terrorist camps in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir. The strike on September 28, 2016, was in response to an attack by Pakistan-based terrorists on an army base in Kashmir’s Uri on September 18 in which 19 soldiers were killed. 

Since then, the government has been observing September 29 as "Surgical Strike Day".

The Kargil War of 1999 between India and Pakistan is one for the books, which claimed lives on both sides. And that’s what Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani’s new film, Shershaah, spotlights. While the overarching theme is the Kargil War, the movie centres around the life and death of Late Captain Vikram Batra, who succumbed to death in an enemy cross-fire while trying to move an injured colleague to safety. For his display of undying courage, bravery, and leadership that led India to win the Kargil War, Captain Vikram Batra was posthumously awarded the Param Vir Chakra, India’s highest gallantry award in 1999.

So, who is Gunjan Saxena? Flight lieutenant Gunjan Saxena was the first Indian Air Force woman officer who went to war. She made history during the Kargil war in 1999 when, as a flying officer, she flew a Cheetah aircraft into the combat zone and rescued several soldiers.

However, what unfolds is the greatest last stand wars of all time. 21 Jat Sikhs of 36 Sikh Regiment of the British Indian Army were stationed at Saragarhi as part of Tirah campaign. This was an Indian frontier war, fought in 1897-98 in an attempt by the British to subdue the wild western frontier of the British Empire. These men were led by Havildar Ishar Singh and Akshay Kumar will be seen in this role.

Sehmat Khan, an undercover RAW agent, is married into a Pakistani family by her father so that she can get some valuable piece of information about the enemy. The movie Raazi by Meghna Gulzar revolves around the life of Sehmat, an Indian spy, played by Alia Bhatt, who is married to a Pakistani officer. Reportedly, the critically praised spy thriller is based on a true story. The film is primarily an adaptation of the 2008 novel titled 'Calling Sehmat' by Harinder Sikka. In 2008, the former Lieutenant Commander of the Indian Navy published a book about the marriage of a Kashmiri woman to a Pakistani officer to draw details on the war strategy of Pakistan. During the Indo-Pakistan war in 1971, she sent classified information back to India.

Milkha Singh, an Indian athlete, overcomes many agonising obstacles in order to become a world champion, Olympian and one of India's most iconic athletes. The legendary athlete wanted that his biopic should be made in such a way that it inspired more youngsters to earn medals in athletics. Singh had also inserted a clause in the project, stating that a share of the profits would be given to the Milkha Singh Charitable Trust, founded in 2003 with the aim of helping poor and needy sportspeople. Bhaag Milkha Bhaag was one of the biggest blockbusters of 2013 and garnered acclaim from critics and audiences alike.
